In May 2025, British start-up enterprise Global Airlines, founded by entrepreneur James Asquith, commenced its first transatlantic flights, marking a significant milestone in its expansion strategy. According to GB News, this new airline's maiden flight from Glasgow to New York, followed by a Manchester to New York service, was operated by Hi Fly Malta due to pending regulatory approvals, showcasing the airline's commitment to reintroducing the A380 into transatlantic service. The aircraft featured a three-class configuration with 428 economy seats, 70 business class seats, and eight first-class suites, catering to a range of passenger preferences.
